Werner Hager, Owner and Director, brings a unique blend of technical qualifications and industry experience that makes him exceptionally well-suited to the renewable energy sector:

• Qualified Millwright — hands-on expertise in machinery, electrical systems, and industrial installations.
• Advanced Diploma in Industrial Automation Engineering — deep knowledge of control systems and automation.

Werner began his career in the automotive sector, working with OEMs and first-tier suppliers. This environment demanded project management excellence, strict adherence to deadlines, and uncompromising quality standards under pressure. These skills translate directly into renewable energy projects, where precision, reliability, and disciplined execution are critical.

During the peak of South Africa’s load-shedding crisis, Werner started assisting friends and family with solar installations. What began as support quickly grew into a passion for renewables, ultimately leading to the founding of Hager Energy & Automation in 2023.

• Residential & Small‑Commercial LiFePO₄ Batteries at 51.2 V, from compact 10 kWh units up to large 50 kWh systems.
• Flagship 16 kWh Model: 51.2 V (314 Ah) with 200 A continuous capability, designed for ~8 000 cycles to 70% remaining capacity — a balanced choice for daily cycling, backup, and light commercial peak-shaving.
• Residential Sodium Batteries: Expanding into safer, sustainable sodium chemistry — non‑flammable, eco‑friendly, and manufactured on order to meet emerging demand.
• Pre‑Engineered Kit‑Form Solar Systems: Complete packages supplied for DIY installers or independent contractors.
• HEA‑Installed Solar Systems: Turnkey solar solutions delivered by our qualified team, with independent verification for compliance and safety.

Installation Philosophy

When customers choose H.E.A installation, we partner with independent electrical contractors who hold at least an installation electrician card, and preferably a master electrician certification. These professionals verify installation standards and issue Certificates of Compliance (COCs).

All installations are carried out in strict accordance with relevant SANS codes, ensuring compliance with South African electrical standards.

We only utilise premium equipment with:

• High IP ratings for durability and protection against dust and moisture.
• Long manufacturer warranties to guarantee longevity and reliability.

We do not offer “cheap systems” that lead to callbacks due to failed equipment. Our philosophy is simple: build it right the first time, with quality components, so customers enjoy years of dependable performance without compromise.

Why LiFePO₄ & Sodium

• LiFePO₄ (Lithium Iron Phosphate): Strong safety profile, stable thermal behaviour, and predictable cycle life — ideal for residential environments and daily cycling.
• Sodium Chemistry: Naturally non‑flammable, eco‑friendly, and cost‑effective at scale. Slightly larger and heavier than lithium equivalents due to lower energy density, but offering unmatched safety and sustainability for households.
