Sodium Battery Supply

H.E.A Residential Sodium Battery Supply

Safer, Sustainable Energy for South African Homes

Hager Energy and Automation (H.E.A) is pioneering residential sodium battery solutions in South Africa. While lithium batteries dominate the market, sodium batteries offer unique safety and sustainability advantages that make them an attractive alternative for households seeking reliable backup power and solar integration.

Why Sodium Batteries?

• Superior Safety: Sodium chemistry is naturally non-flammable, reducing risks of overheating or fire compared to lithium.
• Temperature Resilience: Performs reliably in South Africa’s hot climate, with less risk of thermal runaway.
• Eco-Friendly Materials: Sodium is abundant and widely available, lowering environmental impact and reducing reliance on scarce raw materials.
• Cost-Effective for Larger Systems: More affordable than lithium at scale, making them ideal for households with higher energy demands.

Important Considerations

• Lower Energy Density: Sodium batteries store less energy per unit of weight than lithium.
• Size & Weight: They are slightly larger and heavier than lithium equivalents for the same capacity.
• Residential Fit: Despite this, they remain perfectly suited for home energy storage, solar PV integration, and reliable load-shedding backup.

Market Position

• Current Availability: Very few companies in South Africa offer sodium batteries for residential use. Most focus on lithium or small-scale sodium applications (UPS, marine, or automation).
• H.E.A’s Advantage: We are among the only suppliers of residential sodium batteries in South Africa, giving homeowners access to a safer and more sustainable alternative.
• Manufactured on Order: Because demand is still low, our sodium batteries are manufactured on order, ensuring each unit is tailored to customer requirements and delivered with fresh production quality.

Applications

• Solar Energy Storage: Seamless integration with rooftop PV systems.
• Load-Shedding Backup: Reliable power supply during outages.
• Sustainable Living: A greener choice for households prioritizing safety and environmental responsibility.
